It's been 4 weeks since we started this little project and we've got about a week left, give or take a few days for the carpet (a wool carpet that is completely green (environmentally, not color)). The windows arrived and we batted .500 - the window for the bedroom was perfect, but the bathroom window was built out of square so we had to put on our disappointed faces and take it back. The original order took around 3-4 weeks and I'm hoping we don't have to wait as long for a replacement.
Here's Clark installing the bathroom window, during which the defect was discovered:
At least we know we like the color we picked for the exterior. Michael was originally thinking he liked a lighter color but I convinced him to go with the dark brown because we'll soon replace the rest of the windows in the house and paint the house a darker color. And the dark trim matches the brown trim on the house for now, anyway.
The doors have been ordered but I'm not sure when they'll arrive. The faucet and shower fixture are here, the mirror and bathroom lights are here, the sink arrived a couple days ago. The tile for the bathroom is ordered and should arrive on Tuesday as well as the black slate we ordered yesterday for the floor of the laundry room. Also yesterday I bought paint and am very excited about the colors I found. I love the way a room changes depending on what color is on the wall.* The laundry has no window, so I chose a slightly brighter greenish-khaki color, happy yet still earthy, that will be offset nicely by the flat black slate. The bedroom will have a dark accent color on the largest wall with the window (a grayish brown) and the remaining walls and ceiling are a light yellowish (like lemon chiffon). The bath will be a pale blue with a hint of green and should look beautiful with the stark white tile, sink and toilet. Unfortunately, the colors on the Ralph Lauren site don't look the same on my monitor so they surely won't on yours. You'll just have to wait for photos!
Today, Clark is working on mudding and taping, Michael's crawling under the room, and they might start replacing the siding that had to be removed to do the windows and close up the old door to the backyard.
I'll upload more pictures shortly (after the camera battery is charged).
p.s. My dear husband has lost his mind and decided that, in protest of the cost of this room, he's not going to shave until it's paid off. It could be a long few months for yours truly.
*The persimmon color I chose for the guest room when we moved in has run its course and, after this project is complete, I'm going to repaint it something less... bright.
