Let's see... fracture your clavicle? Good start.

What else... fracture your acetabulem? Excellent recommendation.

Too bad Michael took neither piece of advice in his mountain bike race on Wednesday. He went over a small hill that came down on a slight slant. His front tire got a little off the ground and, when it came back down, it slid out from under him and he went down. Hard. Cracked his helmet and everything.

Seven hours in the ER, one set of x-rays, two CT scans and a prescription for hydrocodone later he's rolling around the house on an office chair and I'm helping him put his pants on. We have an appointment on Monday with an orthopedic surgeon who will set his shoulder with a rod and screws later next week (hopefully) so that he can get on crutches. Since his acetabular fracture is not displaced, we need to keep it that way and that requires keeping all weight off of that leg.

Every day is such an adventure! Michael's just bummed that he would have been in the top five racers that night. I've told him he needs a new goal... Finishing.
