Damn good, I tell ya

Nearly everything is complete in the guest rooms. The bedding is on and looks terrific and I just have to tidy up a little and hang some pictures. I can then clap my hands and call it done. Depending on how I feel, I'll probably paint the bathrooms next weekend. Or at least get the prep work done. I've settled on blue, but haven't picked the shade yet. Something mellow and clean and that will make the old lighting in the hall bath look even worse so I can convince Michael to change it sooner rather than later.

Tuesday was our 8-year anniversary. We went to Taka's Sushi where Taka delivered a white-ribboned blue box incorporated into one of our courses. How adorable! Michael is so sweet and I was quite impressed because it's the first time he's successfully kept a secret. Inside the box was the flower ring to match my bracelet and necklace. It's beautiful!

Last night our friends from Salem, OR were in town and we checked out Ella Dining Room & Bar downtown. The decor is gorgeous and prices were quite reasonable. The food was wonderful and staff was great, too. Considering they've only been open for a month, I was impressed. I can see a little room to trim some the staff (I could tell that a couple were very pleased with themselves for having landed a job in the Selland family's new place and it affected their service and humility noticeably), but overall it was delightful.

Tonight we'll enjoy The Kitchen, which is our traditional anniversary celebration. I'm looking forward to a long evening of wine, perfect cuisine and fun people.

Happy anniversary, Michael. I love you!
