This may be it!

As I mentioned in the last post, we didn't have an open house last weekend. It was a nice break - we spent the afternoon at Lake Natoma with the dog. Anyway, about midweek, I had this voice in my head telling me to reduce the price of the house. So I mentioned it to Michael and we agreed to go down by $2050 (to $279,950).

Then, yesterday, while watching The Night Listener, I get a call from the agent who is selling the house we want to buy. He is outside our house with a client and wants to show it if it's not an inconvenience. We ask him to wait about 10 minutes so we can get out of movie-watching mode. When they arrive, they ask all sorts of questions and the agent says that he's been showing him condos and townhouses in the area and proceeded to point out all the stuff ours had that none of the others did. He commented, at the end, about how well maintained the house was and how great the neighborhood looked. As he closed the courtyard door behind him, he peeked through and said, "I really want you to get that house in Fair Oaks!" Awesome! TWO agents working for us!

So today we tidied up for the open house our agent was holding and I just had a feeling all day that this would be a GOOD day. Normally I am a little anxious during each open house - wondering who was walking through, what they were thinking, what they were scrutinizing, etc. But not today. Today I felt calm and as if this was a different kind of day.

We went to lunch at Crepeville in Curtis Park. Then drove around and went into various other open houses (wishing that our price range was a bit higher for some of those gorgeous older homes in East Sac). We finished up by going to REI and looking at new Keens for Michael and backpacks for day hikes. See? Laid back day!

When we got home, there was a note (as usual) from our Realtor. Normally the notes have details, like "3 couples, 2 single men, 1 agent." Things like that. This one just said, "Will email report when I get back to the office." Hmmm! This was either good or bad.

Well, I just read her email about 4 times now and we may actually be getting multiple offers! How crazy is that!? At one point in the open house, there were 4 different buyers wandering around creating quite a competition of "who likes it more" and one guy almost making an offer on the spot! Then one of the buyers came back and asked if any offers had been received because she was nervous someone would make an offer before she did!

Anyway, that buyer is going to come back tomorrow morning with her husband (he couldn't come today) and maybe we'll get what we've been waiting 63 days for!

I'll report back later with what happens... after all, in this market, people can change their mind in a split second and we could be right back where we started. Nah! Not this time!

Buying and selling and all the waiting is nuts. Why don't you just win the lottery like the rest of us?

Ya, that would be nice.

Good luck.
