Does anyone want to buy a dining room set? I paid about $800 for it (oval table and six chairs with hand stitched seats) and am asking $450. Take a look.

Anyway, I'd really like to see it go to nice people who will appreciate it and enjoy it. It doesn't really match our taste, especially since we've bought a new living room and dining room set in a contemporary design, but it's still quite pretty. The chairs are sturdy as my 6'4" father can attest.
I also must find a new home this week for my two cats. They are great cats but my husband has never liked indoor cats and they have been the subject of too many disagreements. Thus, they need to find a place where they'll be happy indoor kitties for the rest of their lives. They are 8-years-old and from the same litter so are very close and shouldn't be separated if at all possible. If you love cats and can provide a nice home for them - or know someone who can - let me know. I know there are lots of good shelters out there with no-kill policies but that prospect makes me sad.
All right, so otherwise things are pretty good. Michael (my husband, not my cousin) bought me a new bicycle as a surprise and a congratulations on my transfer. I rode it around today and had a good time. It would have been more fun had a) it not been so hot and b) I not been by myself. It's much nicer than the bike I had previously (which was stolen a couple years back). And it's taken me a day or so to get used to it because it's a road bike and my last bike was more of a mountain bike. I can't wait to get it on the Americal River bike trail!
I've been scrambling to get everything done before my aforementioned transfer. I have to complete evaluations on all six of my staff which is a task in itself, not to mention the new budget officer is hovering all the time saying, "teach me this, teach me that." I've told her several times that she'll be fine and she'll figure it out (which is true), but she is really panicking. Plus, I've found it difficult to fully develop Short-Timer's Syndrome with all that's left to do. I wrote a scathing email on Thursday to all three members of upper management that might bring some heat but I don't really care. Mainly because I didn't say anything untrue. I basically made one last ditch effort to defend and protect my staff and other members of the program. We'll just see what happens in my last week, if they even talk to me at all.
Sometimes it really sucks to be responsible and ethical.

re: work, stick it to the man! Stupid people need to be dealt with, it's not fair to the rest of us with half a brain!
